Privacy Policy

How CitedMe collects, uses, stores, and protects account, website, and product usage data.

CitedMe helps teams understand how their brand appears across AI search and answer engines. To do that, we process account details, the websites and prompts you connect, and the resulting analytics we generate for your workspace.

This page explains the categories of information we handle, why we use them, and the controls available to customers who use the product.

Information We Collect

We collect the information you provide when you create an account, invite teammates, connect a website, configure prompts, or contact us for support.

We also collect service telemetry that helps us secure the product, troubleshoot failures, and understand whether core workflows such as onboarding, audits, and reports are working correctly.

  • Account and profile details such as name, email address, workspace membership, and authentication metadata.
  • Brand, website, and prompt configuration data, including domains, competitors, prompts, saved filters, and report settings.
  • Service usage data such as page views, button actions, request timing, browser metadata, error events, and API logs.
  • Billing and subscription metadata supplied by our payment and infrastructure providers when you purchase or manage a plan.

How We Use Data

We use customer data to operate the CitedMe product, deliver reports, power onboarding research, improve reliability, and communicate about accounts and product changes.

We do not use your private workspace content to sell advertising inventory or package your customer-specific data as a standalone data product.

  • Provide login, account recovery, workspace access, and security controls.
  • Run onboarding discovery, technical audits, prompt monitoring, source tracking, and reporting workflows.
  • Measure uptime, investigate incidents, prevent abuse, and improve the quality of search, charting, and agent workflows.
  • Send transactional emails such as verification, password reset, onboarding, and account notices.

Sharing and Processors

CitedMe relies on infrastructure, analytics, authentication, and communication vendors to run the service. Those providers process data only to the extent needed to host, secure, or support the platform.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our agreements, or as part of a financing, merger, acquisition, or asset transfer involving the business.

Retention

We retain account and workspace data for as long as the account remains active and for a limited period afterward where retention is needed for security, dispute resolution, backups, tax, or legal obligations.

When customers request deletion, we remove or anonymize the relevant data unless we are required to keep specific records for security, billing, or legal compliance.

Your Choices

Workspace administrators can update account details, remove teammates, revoke API credentials, and request deletion of connected data.

You can also manage cookie preferences through your browser settings and unsubscribe from non-essential product communications using the options included in those emails.

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect customer data, including authentication controls, encrypted transport, scoped service access, and operational monitoring.

No internet service is completely immune from security risk, so customers should also use strong passwords, limit workspace access, and report suspicious activity promptly.
